Home-cooks already love the Creative App Design, Easy to use and Interactive Shopping List but it’s the Preference filters that keep everyone talking. The Canberra Weekly uses this feature and chooses a gluten-free and sugar-free dessert: Scrumptious Pumpkin Pie! All recipes are meal type and dietary categorised. Lifestyle choice, allergy or intolerance; it’s all catered for. This handy little feature makes BIG news with users when allergy and intolerances are at epidemic highs and increasing.

Spring: Tis the Season to EAT…

Let’s head north and see what we can cook up in Spring! Remember, Cooking Pot’s aim is fast, cheap, sustainable, super healthy and delicious food.

Spring is one of my most favourite seasons. Everything is so fresh and new and bursting with blossoms and life. This is definitely the time to get outside, breathe the fresh spring air and get planting. Lucky for you the harvests are already in at your local Farmer’s Markets. Below are some of the fresh produce available.

VEGETABLES

artichoke, arugula, asparagus, avocado, beet, beet greens, broccoli, broccolini, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, celery root, chard, collards, corn, cucumber, eggplant, fava beans, fennel, garlic, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, mache, parsnip, peas, potatoes (maincrop), pumpkin, radishes, rhubarb, rutabaga, salsify, spinach, sweet potatoes, sunchoke, turnips, wild mushrooms, zucchini

FRUIT & NUTS

apples, apricots, blackberries, blueberries, blood oranges, cherries, chestnuts, cranberries, figs, kiwi fruit, lemons, limes, melon, mulberries, nectarines, oranges, passion fruit, peaches, pears, persimmon, pineapple, plums, pomegranate, raspberries, strawberries, tamarillo, tangerines, tomatoes, ugli fruit

In the spring we have a slightly different pot of ingredients to choose from. It’s easy with Cooking Pot the iPhone App because the App takes all the hard work out of choosing recipes by filtering all recipes by ingredient and your preference settings eg lactose free, gluten free or nut free. And dumps it into a shopping list for you.

The seasonal list above is great! I simply adore arugula, avocado, beet (leaves and root), broccolini, chard… To help me not re-listing everything; how about I just say EVERYTHING! What are your favourites!

Rhubarb and apple pie served warm with cream and ice-cream … Yum! Please note: Only consume the rhubarb stalk after boiling it thoroughly. The leaves contain a toxin. Never consume it raw. Speaking of raw, berries are a favourite and using them in raw cooking is a treat. Bring out their full flavour and nutrient-rich quality by trying Cooking Pot’s Raw Chocolate Raspberry Tarts, and they only take about 10 minutes to make if that!!

Tis also the season for baking wholesome and healthy quiches, pies and yummy pizza. Casseroles, quiches and pies can be frozen and reheated when needed at the drop of a hat. Life throws a lot of odd balls and the unexpected is now expected in our busy lives.

It’s easy to prepare for the unexpected with Cooking Pot the iPhone App on your phone and in your pocket where ever you go. A healthy and delicious meal idea is at your fingertips in seconds when you need it most.
